Kryptoids (Playtest 1)
Thank you for playtesting Kryptoids! Below is a description of the concept. After the playtest, I encourage you to go to the form to answer some quick questions about your experience: https://forms.gle/ByFP4s8voNJFuxDg6.
Kryptoids is a Pokemon/Monster Hunter hybrid game. You will go out on quests to find Kryptoids, mysterious creatures based on cryptozoology and mythical creatures. When you find the Kryptoid, engage in turn-based combat to subdue and capture it. Continue questing to gather resources, improve your Kryptoids, and discover new Kryptoids.
The goal of Kryptoids is to combine the best parts of Pokemon with the best parts of Monster Hunter. I’ve always loved the core loop of Monster Hunter: discover a cool new beast, prep and track it, fight the monster, then upgrade your loot. Instead of fighting the monster through action combat, you’ll fight through turn based combat, like Pokemon. As an avid Pokemon VGC player, I wanted to take what makes the doubles turn-based combat so engaging and build on it with Kryptoids, while removing or tweaking the less engaging parts.
This playtest will feature the turn based combat of the game. If you have played Pokemon, this will be familiar, barring a few key differences.
